Sometimes after the presents are out from under the tree, the eating of the food, and the happy holiday making some family members might be little squirrely, leaving you looking for things to do on Christmas Day out of the house. Generally, we have been out a lot around the holiday season, but not necessarily doing things that we want to do. If you find yourself looking for somewhere to stretch your legs or change the scenery, try one of these ideas for family fun on Christmas Morning or Day!
5 Things to Do on Christmas Day in Appleton and Beyond!
See a Movie!
There are some great options for family viewing around the holidays! If you think you might want to venture out to see something after all of your traditional family celebrating, be sure to order your tickets ahead online to have seats together. Movies can get busy in the afternoon and evening.

Go For a Walk!
Stretch your legs, breathe in the crisp air, maybe catch some glimpses of animals celebrating the holidays. Fill a travel mug with hot chocolate and try a trail, State Park, or Nature Center. We really love trails along the Fox River in the winter. Everything looks so different without leaves in the way and you can often spot eagles’ nests!
Go Bowling!
Super Bowl in Appleton and Sabre Lanes in Menasha will both open at noon. Pull on those ugly Christmas sweaters one last time and head out to throw some strikes! Find bowling alleys nearby here.
Go Out to Eat!
Everyone is bound to get hungry again, find a family-friendly spot on our Kids Eat Free list to take everyone out and let someone else worry about the dishes. Call ahead to see if Kids Eat Free deals are offered on the holiday though!
Take a Drive to See Christmas Lights!
Plan a drive to see the Best Christmas Lights Near the Fox Valley using our map and near me function! Some of these Worth the Drive Light Shows are open on Christmas Day and Oshkosh Celebration of Lights is open and free on Christmas Day! You could even plan to visit The North Pole in Kaukauna!
