The days are getting longer, the grass is getting greener and it’s beginning to warm up! We are ready for Spring. We rounded up 30 things to do with your family!

April Activities for Kids & Families

  1. Friday, April 1, 2022: The Bunny Hop in Kimberly’s Sunset Park is a free and family-friendly scavenger hunt and the Easter Bunny will be there to say hello!
  2. Saturdays and Sundays in April: Baby Farm Animal Barn at Kelley’s Farmstead offers a chance to get up close with piglets, lambs, chicks, ducks, and calves. You’ll be right around the corner from Kelley’s Creamery in case you need to incentivize leaving to head home with a delicious ice cream treat.
  3. Thursday, April 21 – Sunday, April 24, 2022: How I Became a Pirate musical hits the stage at Appleton West Theatre.
  4. Friday, April 29 – Sunday, May 1, 2022: Rummage Sale season kicks off with Sherwood’s annual spring rummage sales.
  5. Friday, April 29, 2022: After you’ve scooped up all of the bargains at the Sherwood Rummage Sales, head to opening days at Mulberry Lane Farm to see baby animals!
  6. Sign up your kids for summer camp! Check out our Summer Camp Guide.
  7. Kenna’s Kabin at Bubloz Nature Center has reopened to the public! It is a perfect spot to visit to play with toddlers and preschoolers—and it is FREE!
  8. Head out and hunt for bugs. Play Insect Bingo with this printable from Heckrodt Wetland Reserve! Check out one of these local field trips, crafts or activities.
  9. We have so many parks that are perfect for spring! Enjoy a nice Spring day at one of these parks that are woodchip and mulch-free. These soft turf grounded parks are perfect for Spring and avoid most of the water and mud during this rainy month.
  10. Did you spend a winter snow day painting rocks to hide? Time to hide them! Find more about Fox Valley Rocks!
  11. Earth Day is April 22, 2022: Teach your kids to care for their Mother Earth and community with a clean-up or Earth Day activity!
  12. April is Curious George: Let’s Get Curious traveling exhibit’s last full month at Building for Kids. Don’t miss this fun immersive experience that introduces STEM concepts in a fun way.
  13. Celebrate Easter! There are so many Easter Egg Hunts & Easter Bunny Visits, make a reservation for an Easter Brunch or Dinner, and find some ideas to minimize the Easter Basket candy and support local businesses with our 40+ Easter Basket Alternatives.
  14. Visit Heckrodt Wetland Reserve for a fun adventure. Walk on the boardwalk trails (careful, they’re slippery when they are wet!), visit The World Below Your Feet, and check out the giant eagle nest replica.

  16.  The fun dinosaur exhibit at Milwaukee Public Museum, Tyrannosaurs – Meet the Family spends its last full month at the museum—don’t miss this fun day trip adventure opportunity!

  19. Learn about the dinosaur fish that swim upstream every Spring to spawn. Sturgeon can be viewed in late April / early May.

  21. Cuddle baby animals at a local farm.
  22. Join the Wisconsin State Parks Challenge!
