A Wisconsin dad buried $2,500 and wrote a book with clues about how to find it in 2020 — a real-life treasure hunt! This fun family adventure is back for summer 2021 and kicking off on Friday, August 6. Everyone is invited to try their skill at finding the 5 hidden treasure boxes containing $500 checks!
The New Adventure
In the story, Jack adventures from Chicago O’hare Airport all the way to Minneapolis, MN in search of his dog, Monster. The story is fictional, but the treasure Jack leaves along the way is real. Be the first to follow the clues in any of the five sections, and you will find one of Kayak Jack’s treasures.
5 Different Treasures
Kayak Jack and the Triple Treasure is the second story in the series, only this time Jack hides/loses five different treasure chests, totaling $2,500. Each of the five chests contains a vacuum-sealed check for $500!
Hidden in Wisconsin
All five treasure chests are hidden in the state of Wisconsin on public land. At no time should you have to break any laws, trespass, or put yourself in any danger. If you feel in danger or are breaking the law, please stop. You are not in the right place.
Prepare for the Adventure
If you already did the first adventure or want to skip right ahead, then check out Kayak Jack Revealed. They gave away every tip, clue, and trick we used on the first hunt. The second hunt will take similar wits, so get an advantage by reading The Hidden Treasure or Revealed before the hunt begins.
Crowning the Winners!
The last treasure hunt was so much fun and huge congratulations to Sarah, Keanu, and Tim who found the treasure on day 37. A tremendous thank you to everyone who came on the adventure. This year it is split into five separate adventures. Once you cash the check, they announce which section you have conquered on the website, newsletter, and social media.
Share the Hunt
Share the hunt with friends, family, and us on social media. If you find the treasure, shout it from the rooftops — you deserve to brag. Take pictures and videos if possible and the author will put you on their YouTube Channel, social media, etc. If you wish to remain anonymous, reach out discreetly, or simply cash the check and they will never mention your name.

- Compass – phone or magnetic
- Readiness for adventure
- Standard hiking supplies – shoes/water/bug spray
- A bag to pick up trash – Please!
Water Adventure Requirements (1 of 5 Hidden Treasures):
- A kayak or canoe
- A Life Vest
- Novice Paddling Ability – the author takes his kids ages 3 and 6
- A Paddling Pal
