Mini golf is a time-tested fun thing to do for families with kids of all ages. Most mini golf spots have clubs sized to even our toddlers to put alongside the bigger kids and adults. There are lots of great places to find a perfect course for your family from Appleton to Green Bay and everywhere in between!
Mini Golf Tips
- Let the smallest people take two turns first. It is can be a long slog to even the shortest hole for the tiniest family members, let them take a whack or two (or more!) before more skilled players tee off.
- Let faster people play through. Take a little break and let people that are moving through the course rapidly pass you by. Things feel less stressful without a line behind you while a three-year-old takes 23 tries to put the ball.
- Consider skipping the scorecard. Keeping score can really stress some kids out; if yours is one of them just play for the fun of the game!
- On the other hand, scorecards are great for sneaky math practice. Some kids like keeping score and you can hand over the scorekeeping duties and cram even more math into your outing…they’re already analyzing angles and even some physics, it is basically a STEM field trip.
- Resist the urge to finish off that hole for them. Maybe it is just us, but the temptation to help them out by sinking that put for them can be overwhelming around the 10th try. Resist! They will be triumphant when they finish!
- Grab the sunscreen and water! On warm, sunny days, mini golf courses without lots of shade can be a perfect place to dehydrate and get a sunburn. Skip these things by lathering up and carrying along some water!
