Have you ever been to Caramel Crisp & Cafe in Oshkosh? This little cafe is a pillar in the community and has been around since 1933. It was originally on Main St. but relocated to the Shops at the City Center, one block off of Main St. The cute, not so little shop, has a breakfast and lunch menu, ice cream, cheesecake, popcorn, cookies and more. They are probably best known for their award winning cookies!
Chanda Anderson, the owner of Caramel Crisp & Cafe keeps busy (I don’t think she sits still much). She is very active in the Oshkosh community. She hopes to join the Parks Board and zoological society to help planning fundraisers and take an active role to reduce drugs and crime in the community by joining the heroin task force. She has organized numerous fundraisers for Oshkosh’s Canine unit and a couple of weekends ago you would have found her making chili for the City of Oshkosh’s annual Downtown Chili Cook-Off to raise funds for the Day-By-Day Warming Shelter.
When asked about her passion, Chanda answered, “My passion really started when I finally realized that money does NOT bring happiness … For me, setting goals, and fulfilling them makes me personally happy, helping others makes me happy. Once I opened Caramel Crisp, and was out of the woods, I started to focus more energy into giving back, and that makes me happy.”
Late this summer, Caramel Crisp & Cafe grew a little, Caramel Crisp Kids was born. Caramel Crisp & Cafe has always had unique gifts in their gift shop but this is all about kids!
This new space has lots of lovely books, toys and gifts for children. This kid friendly area has an awesome train table and toys for little ones. Its a great place to enjoy a cup of coffee and meetup for a playdate. They are also hosting storytimes, lego nights, princess tea parties, math assistance and more! Check out their facebook page for announcements and our calendar for upcoming events.
