Boo at the Zoo is back and better than ever! Rain or shine, buckle up for a spooktacular family-friendly adventure at the Milwaukee County Zoo! The zoo welcomes visitors of all ages to Boo at the Zoo, their second annual drive-thru style event, featuring silly and spooky spectacles, fall treats, and an exciting night of music and fun! New for 2021, guests can trick-or-treat right from their vehicles! Treats will be handed out along the “merry-not-scary” route.

The 1.5-mile route takes attendees down winding pathways throughout the zoo where they can enjoy unique Halloween-themed areas, carved pumpkin displays, and watch illuminated light shows from the comfort of their vehicles! Boo at the Zoo is designed for children of all ages but is also perfect for grandparents and those with limited mobility. Visitors can look forward to sightseeing at:

  • Candy Corn Garden
  • Frankenstein’s Village
  • Pumpkin Patch
  • Spooky Hollow
  • Pirate’s Cove
  • Scooby Doo
  • Twinkling Tunnel

Boo at the Zoo offers all visitors the chance to celebrate togetherness for the holiday while practicing safe social distancing measures. Additionally, it doubles as a fundraiser to help directly support the 2,000+ animals that call the zoo home. While the animals will be nestled in their beds during the event itself, families will get to experience the grounds after hours and get their spook on!

While traveling along, you may hear that familiar little growl calling for a snack! Multiple food stops will be available along the route and are offering specialty fall items like hot chocolate, popcorn, cotton candy as well as bottled refreshments. Feast on a creepy-crawly chocolate sundae from Wild Burger, a pretzel with candy corn buttercream frosting from The Coop, or cinnamon churro donuts with caramel apple dip from Adventure Africa! There are many delicious offerings to satisfy everyone’s tastes from the sweet tooth down to those looking to savor the flavors. Merchandise, souvenirs, and select gift shop items will also be available for purchase.

While visitors will remain in their vehicles for the duration of the half-hour ride, the zoo encourages children to wear their costumes to add to the excitement! Drivers are asked to maintain a safe distance from other vehicles, refrain from passing or honking, and to comply with all seat belt and car seat laws. Admission to the event is by the carload not exceeding the number of seatbelts in the vehicle. For safety reasons, the maximum vehicle size is limited to 20-feet long and 6.5 feet in height.

To ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience for all, space is limited, and advanced ticket purchase is required. Tickets are available online only and are bookable for specified time slots of 30-minute intervals. All tickets sales are final and valid only for the purchased timeslot with the last car admittance at 9 pm. You’re encouraged to stop for a bathroom break before lining up at the zoo as bathroom stops are for “emergencies only”. Face masks are required to use the bathroom.
