Staff will work with their group to identify their catches and talk about characteristics, adaptations, and the creek itself! Including water quality, impacts, and habitat. Jump in the creek with water sampling kits, nets, and seines to explore what’s in the creek and identify fish and other critters.
Ecosystems: Baird Creek has four main ecosystems; prairie, forest, wetland, and creek. Kiddos will hike to each location and dig into the ecosystem’s how, what, and why. They will identify flora & fauna in the prairie areas, identify types of trees & their characteristics, why wetlands are important, what makes the creek flow, and so much more.
