Join us for seven fun-filled days for children and their families to make lasting memories while engaging in free or reduced-cost recreational activities throughout the City of Appleton. Celebrating its tenth year, this annual event has brought together more than 500,000 families. All proceeds from U.S. Venture Appleton Children’s Week benefit Appleton Parks and Recreation, the Appleton YMCA and the Building for Kids.

Appleton Children’s Week celebrates local youth by providing family-friendly activities!

SUNDAY, JULY 21, 2019

  • Children’s Week Kick-Off Event At Erb Park
    Join us for our kick-off party taking place during our Kids Fun Run at Erb Park. Anyone ages 2-12 is invited to come out and participate in the runs (which are broken down by age group). The event will once again kick off with the mascot race! Festivities start at 6 pm. Visit our website at www.appletonparkandrec.org to pre-register for the event. 
  • FREE Admission At Erb & Mead Pools
    On Sunday Erb and Mead Pools will be open and free of charge for kids 16 and under. Erb pool features diving boards, in-water basketball hoops, two giant run-out water slides, and leisure pool with water features, and Mead pool features zero-depth entry and a water slide! Pack your beach towel and sunscreen and take advantage of this great opportunity to enjoy the pools for FREE!

  • FREE “Dive-In” Movie At Erb Pool
    Join us for our Christmas in July “Dive-in” movie. The movie shown will be “Elf” and will begin at dusk (around 8:30 pm). Those attending are encouraged to bring a raft to float on. The diving area of the pool will not be open during this time.

MONDAY, JULY 22, 2019

  • FREE Youth Clinic / Learn To Skate With Fox Cities Roller Derby
    Come learn about this awesome sport with the skaters and coaches of your Fox Cities Roller Derby team!  Learn some of the basic skills, and then stick around to watch the Derby skaters compete in a mock bout.  Clinic will take place from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Skater’s Edge, located at 5713 Integrity Way in Appleton.  Format is safe and inclusive of all ages & abilities! Admission and skate rental for the clinic are FREE!
  • FREE Small Bucket Of Range Balls For Kids At Reid Golf Course
    From course open until 2:00 pm kids (ages 18 and under) can come and enjoy free range balls. Call Reid at (920)832-5926 with questions.
  • FREE Discover Scuba Trial At Erb Pool
    1:00 – 2:30 pm All equipment and instruction provided by Mountain Bay Scuba. Participants will need to complete a waiver prior to participation.
  • 10th Frame – 2 FREE Bowling Games
    Kids under 17 get two free bowling games and shoe rental with adult supervision. On Mondays, the 10th Frame opens at 3:00 pm!
  • One Hour Of Free Jump At Vertical Velocity Trampoline Park
    Enjoy a FREE hour of jump on Monday during our open hours from 10:00 am – 6:00 pm (On other days during Children’s Week enjoy an hour of jumping for only $8.00.)

  • FREE Beginner Karate Class
    Have you ever thought about signing your child up for Karate? Come and try the FREE class at 9 am at Karate America East – W3173 Springfield Drive.
  • Barlow Planetarium 
    Everyone is $4 for the weekday matinee family show at either 2:30 pm or 3:45 pm.

  • Kids Rummage Sale Through Appleton Parks & Recreation
    Join us at Pierce Park from 9:00 am – noon for the 7th annual event. Youth will be on hand selling gently used toys, games, clothing, and accessories. You must be registered to sell items but not to shop. To register go to www.appletonparkandrec.org. 
  • FREE Batting Cages At Badger Sports Park All Day 
    All ages are welcome to come and enjoy the batting cages at NO CHARGE! Call (920) 830-6900 with questions.
  • 10th Frame – 2 FREE Bowling Games

    Registration is required and can be done at www.buildingforkids.org. The parade starts at Houdini Plaza at 6 pm and ends in City Park with a Family Reception that goes until 8 pm

    Children will have FREE unlimited access to the Train Ride, Bumper Cars, Carousel, Giant Kid’s Playground, Toddler Zone. Laser Tag admission is NOT included but will be offered at half price admission.
  • 10th Frame – 2 FREE Bowling Games

    This is the BIGGEST Parks and Recreation Department special event of the year!! Our energetic Playground Leaders and local businesses/organizations sponsor two fun-filled days of carnival games, the trackless train, new and exciting inflatables, great food and entertainment. Visit the prize redemption center and cash in your tickets for fun prizes to take home with you.

SATURDAY, JULY 27, 2019

  • FREE art project with the Fox Cities Building for the Arts/The Trout Museum of Art
    Join our community art project from 10 am – 12 pm by adding strips of fabric and yarn to one of our fiber art tents! Use macramé knots or friendship bracelet twists to add color, line, form, and texture to tents that will be hung from trees during Sunday, June 28th’s Art at the Park!
  • The Academy – FREE 30 Minute Karate Class
    This special class will cover life 10 am (4 & 6 year olds) and 10:30 am (7 – 12 year olds). FREE Uniform for the first 20 participants!
  • FREE Skateboard Lesson Provided By Nest (North East Skateboarding Trust)
    Free lesson will be offered at the Telulah Skate Park for all ages 5 – 14 from 9 – 10 am. No pre-registration needed. Lessons will be taught by individuals from Surfin’ Bird Skate Shop.

ALL WEEK ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN’S WEEK

  • FREE WEEK AT THE FOX CITIES YMCA’S
    Entrance to all Fox Cities YMCA locations will be free for all children ages 16 and under and their families. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Fun events and activities will be taking place throughout the week such as kids fitness classes, inflatables, arts/crafts projects, etc. For a full list of activities offered throughout the week visit their website at: www.ymcafoxcities.org/all-events.
  • JOHNSON BANK – BRING IN YOUR PIGGY BANK
    Throughout Children’s Week, kids can stop by Johnson Bank with their change and run it thru the change counter. Kids who do this will also receive a goody bag, a fresh baked cookie and balloon!

    • Meet us at Houdini Plaza at 5:30 pm & we will start marching at 6:00 pm. After the parade, take part in the family-friendly festivities at City Park.
