8 Appleton Non-Profits and Businesses Offering Support for Students with Distance Learning

Back to School Appleton

The Appleton Area School District (AASD) voted Wednesday, August 12 to start all schools virtually. We know that many families will be looking for alternatives during school hours for their children. Offerings are filtering out and we will keep you updated as more information becomes available. Programs will all have limited space, so be sure to sign up right away if you are thinking that you will need a childcare option.

Boys & Girls Clubs of the the Fox Valley

Boys & Girls Clubs of the Fox Valley will be providing distance learning support and youth development programs at Appleton school-based sites. This opportunity is available to all AASD students regardless of whether their home school is a current partner with the Boys & Girls Club. Registration is based on limited space available.

  • Locations:
    • Appleton Bilingual School/Columbus Elementary School
    • Badger Elementary School
    • Foster Elementary School
    • Highlands Elementary School
    • James Madison Middle School
    • Kaleidoscope Academy
    • Wilson Middle School
  • Grades: Kindergarten – 8th grade
  • Hours: Monday – Friday: 7 am – 5:30 pm
  • Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and snack will be provided
  • First Day: Tuesday, September 1, 2020
  • Cost: $10, $25 or $75 per quarter depending on family’s household income level in addition to a $15 annual Club membership fee. Financial assistance is available. Ask for more information.

The application must be received by Thursday, August 20th. Families will be notified of the status of their application on Friday, August 21st. Register TODAY.

YMCA of the Fox Cities

The YMCA of the Fox Cities will be providing distance learning support and youth development programs at Appleton school-based sites. This opportunity is available to all AASD students regardless of whether their home school is a current partner the YMCA. Registration is based on limited space available.

Karate America Appleton East / Darboy

Virtual School Camp at Karate America will provide individual learning spaces with supervision, daily karate fitness classes and daily indoor and outdoor activities Monday thru Friday 7 am – 6 pm.

Mathnasium of East Appleton

Mathnasium of East Appleton will be providing Prime Study Spaces with a private workspace including a desk, internet and power outlet in 3 or 4 hour windows Monday thru Friday. The cost per student starts at $900/month for each student. Learn More.

The Academy

The Academy in Appleton will be offering E-Learning Care Monday thru Friday from 7:30 am – 5:30 pm. 

Urban Air Adventure Park

The Learn & Fly program will offer a safe and fun solution for students in first grade and up, combining academic coaches and tutors, a socially-distanced, capacity-controlled environment. Urban Air will follow all CDC guidelines including temperature checks, spacing of all desks and work areas and applying vigilant cleaning standards. The program will run Monday the Friday from 8 am – 3 pm and includes snacks, drinks and lunch. More information coming soon.

World HeadQuarters

World HeadQuarters is an innovative meeting space in Appleton offering support for parents in need of a safe space for their kids to learn while they are at work as we start the school year. They offer a Student Coworking Center with a flexible schedule, snacks and water, technology and teachers, a predictable schedule for kids, and extended hours to accommodate parents’ work schedules. Kids ages 7-12 can choose from 4 days per month to unlimited days for $150 – $375/month. Those 13 and older can use the space as much as they would like for $100/month.

Childcare Resource & Referral

CCR&R is a community based non-profit agency offering services to parents, child care providers, employers and the community that improve the quality and accessibility of early childhood education and care. CCR&R is working with DCF and other state organizations to ensure that the needs of Wisconsin’s child care providers and the families they care for are met during the COVID-19 recovery phase.
