2016 Spring Theater Northeast Wisconsin

Theater is thriving in the Fox Cities, Green Bay and beyond in Wisconsin! If you’re a lover of theater and the arts, this area offers a wealth of opportunities for families to experience community theater performances and nationally touring shows. Check out these fantastic options for the entire family this Spring.

Fox Cities PAC, Appleton

The Fox Cities Performing Arts Center is located in the heart of Downtown Appleton, right on College Avenue. The PAC is known for bringing touring Broadway shows, live music and educational events to the Fox Cities. I’ve been to the PAC to see numerous musicals, and soon I’ll be taking my daughter to see Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood Live!

Appleton High Schools

You don’t have to visit a performing arts center or historic theater to see a quality production – check out a high school show. Appleton North High School’s choice for their spring musical has sparked a lot of interest this year. Appleton North has received top honors from the Critic’s Choice at the Wisconsin High School Theatre Festival for almost 20 years. When I was in high school, I worked on the stage crew, so I know firsthand those kids work hard to put together a professional-looking musical production every year.

Weidner Center, Green Bay

The Weidner is nestled into the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay campus on the outskirts of the city. The 2,000-seat venue is famous for its amazing acoustics. Over the years I’ve seen comedians like Jim Gaffigan and Jerry Seinfeld there, but most recently I had the opportunity to see the Margaret Wise Brown classics, Goodnight Moon and The Runaway Bunny as performed by Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia.

A few months ago I took my daughter to see the Evergreen Theater Young Actors’ production of Peter Pan. I was impressed with the talent of the actors and the overall production of the show!
